Pilates is a system of movement and therapeutic exercises that was developed by Joseph H. Pilates over a span of 60 years, which he referred to as ‘Contrology’. The Classical Pilates Method aims to preserve Joe’s original teachings of ‘Contrology’ and we continue to perform these exercises in the order he created them, with his intentions.
In the Pilates Mat class we use breath, concentration and focus to precisely move our bodies through the mat series, adding props and modified variations to support deeper core connections. These unique life-enhancing physical exercises will help to correct muscular imbalances, improve posture, coordination, balance, strength, and flexibility, as well as increase breathing capacity and organ function.
All these things combined create a uniform development in the body to help precent future re-injury and reduce, even in some cases, alleviate chronic pain altogether.
