Stress. Stress. Stress.
It can be a stealth ninja that slowly builds up and it can also be a really sudden and loud response to situations and confrontations. The bodies response to stress increases the load on our nervous system and unless we manage it, continues to build until we are unable to function due to serious fatigue, disease or chronic illness.
Stress affects every single aspect of our lives:
- Physically with stroke, heart disease, weight gain, weight loss, digestive issues, posture and alignment issues etc.
- Mentally via depression and anxiety.
- Emotionally by impacting our relationship with ourself, our loved ones, our friends and colleagues.
Stress is a body response. We can learn how to be at more ease during times of stress by becoming more attuned to our body.
In this 8 week series, with my guidance and 8 time tested themes, you will learn how to connect with your bodies innate intelligence and wisdom and hear how to support your wellbeing. Essentially, this is a mindfulness based stress reduction program. What is different is we use the body & movement to learn it.
Many of us think that we are connected to our bodies. We use it everyday to work, we notice when it hurts, when it is loud! Rarely do we listen when its quiet, the subtle, the softness, the unspoken and the unresolved. The impact that words, people, situations and fear have on it. We are programmed to live our life through the lens of our mind, and yes, its true, our mind is a part of our body. But it’s only one part of an entire biosystem. A lot of information is stored in the subtle bodies. Embedded in to the tissues and fibres, and flowing through the chemistry of our body is our Being, the essence of who we are.
Through movement and stillness, I will guide you in theme based practices that bring you back to your Be-ing.
- You will learn how to build a consistent meditation practice.
- Our confidential sharing circle is a place to connect & be witnessed in our sharing, and listen to how others are navigating their unique life experiences.
- Concrete tools and guidance are offered to support you in integrating wellness practices outside of our class time.
- Nestled in the middle of our eight week experience, on Oct 17th, is a special 5hr silent retreat.
