Yoga Nidra By The Sea

I’ve heard from many of you about how you feel after Yoga Nidra: peaceful, balanced, connected, at ease, clear, steady, and rejuvenated. You see positive changes in your skin, weight and even sleep patterns. How does this happen?

Yoga Nidra is about being guided into a deep state of relaxation and mediation that allows the body to naturally restore itself without doing anything other than resting in a completely supportive position. The practice uses the power of intention, along with specific breathing and focusing techniques that allow you to go beyond the barriers of the five senses, initiating shifts from the deepest core of your being. This state of meditation provides you with powerful tools to eliminate stress and banish self-destructive unconscious fears, beliefs and habits.

Incredibly, it has also been shown to support and boost the immune system and reduce inflammation, which addresses the underlying root of a wide range of health issues, including premature aging, degenerative diseases, insomnia, indigestion, high blood pressure, heartburn, addictions to alcohol, drugs/tobacco, anxiety, depression, and Attention Deficit Disorder.

We offer you many ways to access and enjoy the benefits of this practice:

Yoga Nidra relaxes, rejuvenates and renews the physical body. It also empowers you to eliminate unconscious obstructions and energetic blocks that prevent you from living your life to the fullest. It is the single most powerful tool that can help you reshape your life, rebuild your health, and renew your life!

With Love,
Hasu & all of us at Yoga By The Sea

Who Is Present?

It doesn’t matter who is sitting on the cushion in the front of the room.

In the beginning, we are drawn to a particular person we prefer, based on various attributes we like. Do we feel they are knowledgable about what they are leading? Is the class that they lead what we want, and does it fit into our schedule?

Then we find the perfect fit… which is actually all about the external other. That sounds like a relationship!

The truth is, what matters is that YOU show up. Nothing happens unless you commit to knowing your true self. All the practices here at Yoga by the Sea are an pointing to this self-realization, even though some may be initially drawn only to life mastery – that’s OK, that’s on the path!

Life isn’t “out there” somewhere, it’s in every breath that moves through you; it’s every heart beat, every sensation in the body. It is the attunement found through inward focus, and the connection to feeling and being.

So, It doesn’t matter who is in the front of the room, it simply matters that you are in the room. That you show up as YOU, fully present and knowingly aware.

Love,
Hasu

Advanced Yoga Teacher Training Graduation

IMG 8998: Advanced Yoga Teacher Training Graduation

For the past several months these 12 dedicated, devoted Yogis who are inspired to explore and investigate their existence, the nature of consciousness and transform their beliefs and habits have allowed me to walk with them through this uncovering. We are deeply grateful for the opening, love and acceptance we have shared. We have had a wonderful spiritual experience together, and look forward to many more moments. Such a honour to be a part of this continually growing community.

A special thank you to Judith Grieve, Cynthia Gareau, Marina Mawby and Maggie McGrath for the support and mentoring in this 300 hour Advanced Yoga Training.

Congratulations to the newest Graduating Yoga Teachers !!!!

Love,
Hasu

Join Hasu in this 22-minute practice, daily if you can! We begin with the Prayer of Intention, then transition with bowing breath to the Kriya of Chitta Prana.
.
This practice reveals the First Key of Consciousness, which is impersonal awareness and impersonal Prana. Sound confusing? That’s because you need to do it to understand it! Swami Kripalu shared this practice many years ago with his student, Yogi Amrit Desai, and called it his Gift to the West. It was intended to show the deep power of yoga to Amrit’s American students in the 1970s, and it has more than stood the test of time.
.
When you participate, take note of what shows up when she asks, “notice the contents of your mind.”

I am writing you a personal note, to invite you to attend Yin Yoga this fall with Roxanne Sammartino. Many of you know her as she has been the backup  for Andre many times in the past  years, when he would need time away for one reason or another. They make a fantastic team ! Andre decided to transition his class completely to Roxanne this fall.  We will miss Andre, as he has been with Yoga by the Sea  for many years, dedicated in his offering of wisdom, humour and authenticity. A dear friend and Yogi.
Roxanne brings an open and loving heart to meet you wherever you are in your investigation of body and mind.

Shifting To Fall

As we begin to turn our attention toward Fall…
A Shift in Season
A Shift in Routine
New Beginnings

10 years ago we expanded Yoga By The Sea to include both Sun and Moon Yoga Studios. This expansion was a commitment to a personal life of a Yogi, and a mother – the same thing really! I wanted to stay home with my son and be available before and after school; to attend field trips and soccer games; to be flexible, create a peaceful loving environment and have the energy to be a present parent.

Some days were better than others, and that’s why it’s a practice or Sadhana; you keep coming back to the teachings again and again. You as the community have supported this by supporting the Yoga Studio and Yoga Family! It takes a village to raise a Yogi, and a Mother. 🙂

On Saturday, my beloved son leaves our Sunshine Coast nest and will land in Victoria to attend UVIC as a first year student. I am incredibly proud of him! My heart is so full and filled with deep gratitude for being held by all of you as we navigated this journey this past decade, whether you knew it or not. I know it!

We all know it here at Yoga by the Sea, as you have made a difference in our lives, our families, the next generation and our community. Eternally Grateful!

We have a wonderful Schedule lineup for this Fall, including our Open House Week from Sept. 7 to Sept. 15, and exciting workshops planned.

We look forward to seeing you again in this new season 🙂
